How to Host a Cultural Booth at the Wheeling International Festival

We invite individuals and organizations to help bring the world to Wheeling by hosting a cultural booth at the Wheeling International Festival on Sunday, August 11th, 2025! This is a fantastic opportunity to share your heritage in an interactive and educational way.

Cultural Booth Guidelines:

  • Cultural Representation: Each booth must focus on representing a specific culture or country. You are encouraged to display traditional items, clothing, artwork, crafts, maps, language, or other culturally significant elements.

  • Educational & Interactive: Booths should offer an educational experience for all ages. This can include:

    • Hands-on crafts or activities

    • Games or puzzles from your culture

    • Simple language or writing demonstrations

    • Cultural storytelling or history

    • Sampling traditional items (non-food only, unless pre-approved)

  • All-Ages Engagement: Plan for visitors of all ages, especially children. Your booth will be featured in our “passport activity”, where children collect stamps at each cultural stop to encourage exploration and learning.

Booth Setup:

  • You will receive a 10×10 space, one table, and two chairs (free of charge).

  • You are welcome to bring additional decorations, displays, or a tent if desired (no electricity provided).

  • Booths must be staffed and operational from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

  • Respectful & Inclusive: Cultural displays should be accurate, respectful, and inclusive, celebrating heritage in a way that educates and honors traditions.

Selection Criteria:

Booths will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and reviewed by the event committee based on:

  • Cultural diversity (we aim to represent as many different cultures as possible)

  • Educational value

  • Interactivity and audience engagement
